Top 6 things to watch out for when building a new home and how builders are still cutting corners with energy efficiency

Even though it seems like all the new home builders are touting how energy efficient their homes are, there are still major problems and misleading information given in terms of the energy efficiency of the homes.  Here are ways a home builder can make it seem like you are getting a good deal but in reality you are simply being mislead.1. A low HERS Score touted.A HERS Score standard by which a home's energy efficiency is measured. The HERS or Home Energy Rating System was developed by RESNET…See More

Insulation machine preferences

I'm in the market for a new insulation machine and am unhappy with my existing plug in machine because it's broken down too many times in the field.  I'd like to see what insulation machines other contractors are using or have used, how long you used it, where they have failed and what maintenance you have done for them over time. The terminals on my control board have failed the most often and needed to be replaced and now the motor has been overheating more frequently. Thanks in advance!See More

What air conditioner filters work best?

When it comes to keeping your HVAC system maintained, nothing is more important or easier than making sure your filters get changed out every month or two.  Dirty, neglected filters have real affects on your AC system that end up costing you more in repairs and early replacement down the road than if they were changed regularly.  When the air filter gets dirty it becomes restrictive to airflow passing through it, so your unit needs to work harder to "breath in." This puts stress on the small…See More

How can you create a successful energy audit business that brings you more freedom, time and increases your well being?  It may be surprising to you that success comes less from becoming an expert energy auditor than it does becoming a master of delegation.  By mastering the art of delegation you can have more freedom in your time and escape the rat race of trading time for dollars.  However, delegation is not as easy as it sounds.  The right way to do it actually…
