Interesting stuff. In one house that I constructed for a client, I had the sparky electrician install a motion sensor in the bathroom so when soneone came in to use the toilet, the motion sensor fired up a circulating pump to send hot water to the sink. So by the time the person relieved themself, the hot water was at the sink. Then after a set amount of time, the sensor would stop the pump. This was relitively easy to install as the pump and the sensor were both 110 volts. It was running hot water off of a solar storage tank, so if you do this you must take the water from downstream of the mixing valve as the solar tank runs up to 180F. This system worked well and the clients love it however, it is only usefull on larger homes and smaller houses do not need the added expense of a hot water circ system. Pay back on this was very long as the water was heated for free by the sun. It was more luxury than energy saving.
