Just joined so not sure if you found your answer or not but I can give you some advice since I own a window tinting business. The best way to get the answer to your question is to call a window film expert in your area and ask them to bring out a BTU meter, this device will measure the BTUs coming into your home during a sunny day (has to be done as the sun is coming through a window) once you know what the BTUs are coming in with no film then you can have the film person put a piece of film on the window and retest. From experience I know that there is a reduction in the amount of BTUs. Hope this helps, if you need a person in your area contact me at my window tinting website.
