Welcome to Home Energy Pros – the unique digital community by and for those who work in the home energy performance arena.

It is no secret that we are on the cusp of a major transformation in how energy efficiency is deployed in the housing sector. After all, the U.S. President even went on television in a major home-improvement store to promote the idea – when was the last time you saw that happen!? Massive federal and private initiatives promise to expand the profile and funding of this work, all pointing towards a grand scale-up in delivery. This relatively small industry is about to experience rapid growth. Fasten your seat belts.

Meanwhile, the art and science of delivering improved home performance is reaching new heights. While there has historically been a small cadre of practitioners delivering premium services, a much broader army of delivery agents and offerings will be needed if we have “a polar bear’s chance in the arctic” at touching a meaningful proportion of the housing stock. Only then can we make a sufficient corresponding dent in national energy use.

Many new faces are already appearing in the market. Reasonable standards of practice must be maintained, while not hindering the entry of legitimate new players and business models. From consumers' perspective, the services must be affordable and effective.

As things unfold, the web will become a more important vehicle for deploying information and tools, and for the pros to meet.

One place to meet your peers is …. here.

Lynne - Ah, Bucky! One of the single most important inspirations. My father was reading "Operating Manual for Spaceship Earth" when I was a kid. Just the title set my little mind a whizzing.....

Its a groundswell, grass roots movement...green is growing and getting bigger every breath...Buckminster Fuller was ahead of his time and is smiling over our progress.
