Smart gauges will change how we use Blower Doors, DucTesters and other diagnostic tools

The world’s first touchscreen WiFi gauge

Webinar Sept 12/2013 11AM PDT, 2PM EDT

The DM32 controls all blower doors, duct testers, and some flow grids. We’ve even introduced advanced features that will not only modernize just the gauge but the older devices attached to them as well. For example, automatic corrections can be made in the gauge for system backpressure correction when using flow grids.  Control your gauge using any mobile phone, tablet or iPod using iOS (Apple), Android or Windows software. Join an existing network or the DM32 can generate a hotspot providing remote control from your PC or Smart device.

Share your live results with anyone - anywhere.  Virtual Gauge software* provides a new level of live verification for quality control, troubleshooting and training.  Control the DM32 from your computer in the next room or across the country.

Five year calibration is an industry breakthrough with the first state-of-the-art digital pressure sensors. The savings from calibrations combined with the rechargeable high capacity lithium-ion battery will save the cost to upgrade from an existing gauge.

Download new features and improvements into your Smart Gauge, free over the internet; updates like a smartphone. No need to send your gauge back.

Simple interface, faster setup and smart results are combined with features like Set to any pressure, code compliant results such as air changes per hour calculated in the gauge, and saved settings from last test are easier to access and clearly displayed

This gauge is small enough to fit into your back pocket. Designed for active field use and one hand operation while you're on the move. Clip your gauge to your belt or use the super magnets for hands-free operation.

The impact of the DM32 could be similar to how smartphones have revolutionized our lives. Retrotec has apps for Apple, Android and Windows mobile devices that are ready for the industry to explode with creative solutions from geo-locating data from a wide range of instruments such as smart gauges  CO detector and IR cameras to streaming data live over the internet for training, quality control, troubleshooting and verification.

For in house testing, applications that save the most time and allow for better testing are:

1. Being able to turn your Duct Tester on/or off to look for leaks or to check to see if you've gotten the ducts up to code. You can now operate your duct tester from the attic or crawlspace; just leave it hooked up.

2. Set up your gauge in the CAZ zone and will all exhaust fans and the air handler running, open and close doors to see if the pressure goes up.  If it increases, leave the door closed and continue to check other doors. No need to drag tubes around the house; just monitor the pressure on your cell phone; Android, MS (Nokia) or iPhone.

3. In home presentations. When explaining to the homeowner the results you got from your test. You can turn your duct tester on again to show them how their house performs. Doing it on your phone adds a lot more to the cache of the test than huddling around a gauge in the hallway.

For tests over the Internet using Virtual Gauge you can:

  1. Troubleshoot with tech support
  2. Have your test witnessed by a Code official over the internet.
  3. Teach how to use equipment remotely where the student is doing a live test but doesn’t have a real system in front of them.

We are interested in getting input on other applications and are willing to provide a developer’s kit for those who would like to sell their own Apps.

Our new gauge will operate all your existing DG-700 functions and run your fans as long as you have cruise feature.

What functions can these new WiFi gauges perform that cannot be handled by my trusty DG-700? Is it all smoke and mirrors or are there some tangible benefits.  I usually test houses and ducts and get involved in overseeing the repairs.
