Home Energy Rap

Yes, you read the title right. Not only is Home Energy magazine providing bimonthly content in the form of a magazine, but we have now officially entered into the wild world of rap. Our very own editor, Jim Gunshinan presented the following Home Energy rap at the 2011 National Association for State Community Services Program (NASCSP) Training Conference that took place in Seattle last week. If nothing else, it will make you smile. Enjoy!

Home Energy Mag, is the place to read

all the EE news, that you could ever need.

We started in the lab, where the scientists do

all the scientific study, which is our nation’s due.

They come up with solutions, to stop pollution.

They make our nation more secure, a stronger union.

But the lab coat crowd, is not on target all the time.

It’s you out in the field, who also make us fine.

You show us results, put the theory to the test

and tell it through our pages, to all the rest.

Without you we are nothing, but words on a page

you keep us fresh and relevant, for every age.

We want to make our houses use a lot less energy

be comfy, and healthy—all one synergy.

The house as a system, multifamily or single

is the place where our family, and friends come to mingle.

We all deserve a place to live, and food on our table

and we have lots of work to do, to make this dream able.

We all do our part, to make our lives better

some do it with a blower door, and some with the letters.

Weather blue or white or green, is the color of you collar

we do the right thing, and try to make a fair dollar.

Only 75 clams, makes you one of our number

without you we would only get, dumber and dumber.

I end this little song with a thank you, you see

for all that you do, to make us good as can be.

We look to the future, and see the same mission.

and wonder what to do to keep the light in our vision.

The government, the private sector, or some combination

we’ll thrive, we’ll win, to you I need to make no explanation.

Come by the booth to see me, or greet me in a meeting

I count myself blessed, to be among you this evening.

We can talk about stories, that I want you to write

or deals for the magazine, that make your face bright.
