MacOdrum was nominated by industry peers and selected by an independent panel of judges for his tireless efforts in creating, and professionalizing, the home performance industry in Oregon. MacOdrum successfully led a coalition of contractors, realtors, lenders, and inspectors over the past year to establish the City of Portland's Home Energy Score Ordinance for all homes sold. This ordinance sets an example for other cities and states looking to collaborate with realtors, appraisers, and lenders.
"Don's promotion of public energy efficiency policies is one of his greatest strengths," said Larry Zarker, BPI Chief Executive Officer. "In the past year alone, he led the City of Portland's push to require the DOE Home Energy Score during real estate transactions."
BPI developed the Tony Woods Award to honor the former president of Canam Building Envelope Specialists Inc. and ZERODRAFT®, and a pioneer of the home performance industry. During his career, Woods served as a volunteer board member with BPI and ACI, as president of the Ontario Building Envelope Council, and on more than ten standards committees dealing with air leakage control, air barriers, and ventilation. Woods passed away after a battle with leukemia in 2009.
