Have a Listen: "The Blower Door Man is Coming to Town" from the Energy Circle Lounge

This past weekend Martin Holladay posted a series of "Christmas Carols from the Energy Nerd," classic Christmas songs hilariously rewritten for building energy nerds like us... and probably you, too.

So one of our team members, Greg -- a man of great talent and true genius -- decided to put one of them to a tune.

Special thanks to Martin Holladay for permission to sing his song. In addition to being a gifted lyricist, he's also one of the country's finest writers in the green building/energy efficiency sector, and has a must-read blog called Musings of an Energy Nerd, which you can follow here.

So without further ado, here it is, direct from the Energy Circle Lounge: The Blower Door Man is Coming to Town. Happy Holidays all.

I've had this one kicking around for quite a few years now.

The 12 hours of Insulating

By Elaine Peters

Dedicated to Joe Ilaqua

On the first hour of insulating Joe Ilaqua said to me,

“You know this stuff isn’t free.”

On the second hour of insulating my crew chief said to me

“Set up the equipment.”

On the third hour of insulating my crew chief said to me

“Where is the caulk?”

On the fourth hour of insulating my crew chief said to me

“Call this list to Joe.”

On the fifth hour of insulating my crew chief said to me

“Where is my coffee?”

On the sixth hour of insulating my crew chief said to me

“Air seal the attic”

On the seventh hour of insulating my crew chief said to me

“Drill out the wall”

On the eighth hour of insulating my crew chief said to me

“Who’s’ foot went through the ceiling?”

On the ninth hour of insulating my crew chief said to me

“Quick, call the sheet rockers.”

On the tenth hour of insulating my crew chief said to me

“Ready to blow the attic.”

On the eleventh hour of insulating my crew chief said to me

“Clean up this mess”

On the twelfth hour of insulating my crew chief said to me

“I want to go home”

Hmmmm, Allison. You've got my wheels turning. "Georgia, Georgia. The whole house through. Just a big red door keeps Georgia on my mind." (Disclosure: I've met the lyricist Martin Holladay, and I'm no Martin Holladay.)

This should be the theme song for Georgia's new energy code. As of the first of this year, Blower Door tests are required for new homes.

Peter, I think you folks in Maine are hitting the egg nog and having way to much fun
