Does anyone have experience with window films installed over e-glass? Is there a payback on south facing windows during the hot summer months? Or would transparent shades work better?

Hi Ron,

Just joined so not sure if you found your answer or not but I can give you some advice since I own a window tinting business. The best way to get the answer to your question is to call a window film expert in your area and ask them to bring out a BTU meter, this device will measure the BTUs coming into your home during a sunny day (has to be done as the sun is coming through a window) once you know what the BTUs are coming in with no film then you can have the film person put a piece of film on the window and retest. From experience I know that there is a reduction in the amount of BTUs. Hope this helps, if you need a person in your area contact me at my window tinting website.
