Air & Vapor Barrier for a House in Berkeley, California
1 Reply

I am wondering if building experts have an opinion in the correct ordering of vapor and air barrier for a small 1 story house in Berkeley CA. We are planning a DER/Passive house retrofit and are…Continue

It is my understanding that you need an airtight envelope (let's say less than or equal to 0.6 ACH) along with super insulation (whatever R value you need) for best energy performance. However, a…Continue

We have a small 1940s single level house (1005sqf) in Berkeley, California that is in need of a deep energy upgrade. Our plans include making the envelope air-tight, increase insulation, make use of…Continue

Hi Kaushal,

We're happy to share our learning on passive house.  By any chance are you a member of Passive House California?  Monthly meetings are usually held in Berkeley on the 4th Sunday of the month and they have a wealth of information.  You're welcome to visit our house in Santa Cruz as well.

Cheers,

Chie
