Mr. Jackson,

In my work as an energy auditor for the First Energy Residential Energy Audit Program, I get asked that and similar questions often. Who do I recommend to do this, or that, or the other? I always tell my clients I cannot recommend a company by name. I do recommend companies that have BPI-certified individuals on staff. Those individuals have the training to look at every house as a composite of systems working at the same time. Sometimes those systems work together, sometimes they work against one another. The BPI-trained individual will have the knowledge and training, and hopefully, experience to determine what needs to be done, and in what order.

That said, bpi.org is the place to go. Yes, I have worked with an insulation company on my house. Might not use them again, but will certainly work with them. I know there is a company in Cleveland with a BPI-certified person on staff, because I proctored him when he last got re-certified. And I have worked with this company in the past.

No names are necessary. You will easily find them, and then I can, if you like, confirm your selection.

Walter
