An example of what an RCC can do with no R- insulation in the walls.

I have had a handful of folks on this forum tell me, in effect,  that an RCC can do a very good job of insulating a wall with no R-rated insulation in it.  However, if there is R-rated insulation,…Continue

How much heat energy is lost through the floor of a house?

I am asking this as I do not recall anyone speaking of any study to this end.  Many comments about adding insulation under a house with a crawl space and the benefits of doing that.  I do not recall…Continue

RCC as interior paint in a house that does have R-rated insulation.

Here is a few pictures, a statement and a copy of the electric bill from a homeowner.  He had the interior walls and ceiling painted with the RCC. My first post of the RCC used as interior paint on a church sanctuary raised a few questions I could not answer as the contractor had passed away.  This is a brick house in the same town as that church.  It DOES have R-rated insulation in the walls (the church did not) and ceiling although the owner was unsure of the exact rating of the…See More

New Energy Star requirements for Cool Roof coatings

I was forwarded an email that originated from the Energy Star Heat Island group.  This was something I was not aware of.  I have changed the font to red for the main point of my own comments below the quoted part of the email.

"This call will provide an overview of the revised requirements for ENERGY STAR labeling of roofing products. The focus will be on the certification and verification processes. Beginning January 2011, labeling requires third- party…
