Oil boiler smells in house

We recently installed a Buderus high efficency direct vent condensing boiler in a closed furnace room. The homeowner reports significant unpleasant smells coming into the house. Ambient air testing does not show any by-products of combustion, and the company technician inspected the unit and says it is installed properly and operating properly.  The room is enclosed and gets hot.
