ASHRAE 62.2-2013 released

Okay, so has anyone had time to scrutinize the just-released ASHRAE 62.2-2013 standard?  How different is it from Addendum r?I see it has finer increments in the Ventilation Air Requirements table 4.1.  That's good.Be sure to get the Errata sheet.Qinf = may be no greater than 2/3 * Qtot.  I read that as meaning even leaky houses may need mechanical ventilation. Anyone have a -2013 spreadsheet calculator yet? Will the $20…See More

Rick Karg replied to Dale Sherman's discussion ASHRAE 62.2-2013 released
"Paul Francisco's alternative method is just fine. He has simplified the math for the procedure. Even with Paul's simplification, a spreadsheet or calculation sheet is a good idea. Regarding ductwork, remember that the ASHRAE 62.2 Standard…"

"OK, one question/answer at a time: Yes, I have scrutinized the 2013 and presented a session at ACI Denver (May 2013) with Paul Francisco that compared 62.2-2010 with 62.2-2013. Qinf may not be greater than 2/3 Qtot for NEW homes only. This is not a…"

"Generally, the older the house, the nastier the basement.  If we do a good job of air-sealing a house, where is the remaining infiltration air coming from? If the path from outside to the living space is via the basement, how much is the air…"

Dale Sherman commented on Home Energy Magazine's blog post Home Energy and the Fracking Dividend
"Some homeowners in upstate NY are changing their homes to all electric because of their opposition to fracking.  They are also switching their electrical supplier to all renewable which often adds 1-2 cents per kWh. These folks are prime…"

Dale Sherman replied to Jack Baikoff's discussion Measuring fresh air intake ducted to a return and no way of measuring from outside.

Dale Sherman replied to tedkidd's discussion Rick Gerardi's case for a "Performance Registry"

Dale Sherman replied to Glen Gallo's discussion “I don’t get it why would we want to make the house so tight that you would need ventilation?”
"It's a little easier to sell in upstate NY.  A house needs ventilation for the people and pets in it, but the rate of ventilation varies greatly with temperature and wind.  "A house has to breathe," can be countered…"
