Armando Cobo replied to Chris Dorsi's discussion Question: What Are The Most Common Energy Code "Fails"?
"Generally, its not the code. IMO, its a combination of poor enforcement, lack of education from bldg. officials, raters, builders, subcontractors and homeowners, and just pure greed."

Armando Cobo replied to Greg La Vardera's discussion New Construction: Easing Builders into High Performance Construction
"Greg, There is so much that I disagree with your AF blog, that it would take another thread to get into. I believe your view of AF is too simplistic, but it also takes good detailing and practice. I've designed a lot of homes with AF for…"

Armando Cobo replied to Greg La Vardera's discussion New Construction: Easing Builders into High Performance Construction
"Interesting framing method and I appreciate the effort to show the videos, however, I have differences of opinion with Mr. La Vardera on a few points: 1. Advanced Framing is not just a top plate and in-line framing only issues, but also designing…"

Armando Cobo replied to Jennifer Rupnow's discussion Crawlspace Vapor Barrier: Install Correction and Future Guidance in the group Best Practices (Residential)
"John, Drying is the whole idea... with a closed cell it'll never get a chance to dry out and it'll rot; or maybe we need to agree to disagree on the building science of it."

Armando Cobo replied to Jennifer Rupnow's discussion Crawlspace Vapor Barrier: Install Correction and Future Guidance in the group Best Practices (Residential)
"On the contrary, if there is any wicking through the concrete or any moisture leaks on the rim joist, the open cell will allow any wood and the wall assembly to dry."
