VISTA AC

Single AC unit serving 2-story 1,200 sq ft paint store show room. Done on a 103 degree day. Immediately dropped interior air temp 7 degrees. Next day, also 103 degrees. Manager called and said it was 12 degrees colder than before the RCC was applied to the AC unit.

In most cases, water and a brush.  If the surface area is filthy, oily, greasey, what works best is liquid tide with bleach.  We will wet down the surface area, AC unit, metal roof etc, spray on liquid tide with bleach from a garden sprayer, scrub it, rinse it, let it dry.   100% environmentally friendly.  Once dry, spot prime any rust.  Spray or roller on the RCC.  Cooling effect is immediate.

what do you clean it with?  Most RTU are just nasty - grease from Kitchen to concrete  dust to road tar to bird dropping

Our RCC is such a good sealant it is used as an encapsulant material for asbestos.  But, that had no bearing on this application.

Hi Eric,

I did this one myself.  I cleaned it, masked off all the ID plates and stickers and painted on our RCC.  Nobody did anything with the outside air intake.

Our RCC has Solar Reflectivity of 0.83

                                 Emissivity of  0.90

Here is how that was explained to me by a couple of folks from energy labratories.

Using our numbers;  83% of the sun's heat energy is reflected away from the material.

This leaves 17% that actually enters the surface of the material.

Of THAT 17%, 90% of that is emitted back into the atmosphere.

Do the math and that leaves 1.7% that actually goes past  the RCC and enters the building.

 

If your numbers are referring to ther 'coloor spectrum, I will give an example of a white RCC does vs standard white paint.

@00,000+ sq ft metal building.  Egg processing pl;ant in Texas.  Metal roof was white from the factory (Baked enamel?)  Walls were a light yellowish tan from the factory.

First thing cpoated was the roof..  That immediately dropped the surface temperature from 196 degrees down

to 110 degrees.  It also dropped the attic air teperature by 60 degrees.  Iy was a 108 degree day.

The surface temperature of our RCC will alway be within 5 degrees of whatever the ambient air teperature is at that moment..

IT AINT PAINT!  :)

I have seen roof top units leak 45% on both supply and return.   I have see the slitter between supply and return just rot with leaking air- conditioned air hits hot air than rains.   Yours is more just color than sealing, black is 93% and white is 7% solar heat pick up.  How much of that is from closing the outside air off?
