Comment by Hal Skinner on September 14, 2011 at 11:57am Cerama-Tech is good for any climate, cold or hot. One of the big reasons there are 'Temperature zones' when it comes to these Cool Roof products is ecause of bonding problems. I have seen sheets of white ceramic roof coatings slide off steeped slope metal roofs into the yard. Why? Because the temperature got down to 20 degrees and it lost ability to retain it's bonding. That is also one of the reasons for rating them for low and / or steep sloped roofs.
Cerama-Tech is an exclusive product only available through our exclusive distributors. Their are distribution areas open in almost every state. You can contact me for more info on that.
Thank you so much Hal, for replying quickly and for the helpful info. Can this product be purchased and applied by anyone? Is is also good for other climates, temperate ones like the northeast? Thanks again.

Comment by Hal Skinner on September 14, 2011 at 9:49am Hi Debra. It's called Cerama-Tech. Energy Star 'Cool Roof' coating that can also be used as an interior or exterior paint. It can be used on every type of roof except eood shingles.
On composition or asphalt shingles and rolled roofing, it is applied in one coat at a spread rate of 50 sq ft per gallon. In the case of very old and dry shingles that rate can drop as low as 35 sq ft per gallon as they can suck it up like a sponge.
Cerama-Tech penetrates into the shingles past the granules and into the first layer of felt, it becomes part of the shingles. It carries a 15-year warranty but we have had it on the roofs od casinos in Nevada for 25-years.
