Like Twitter / FB and other sites, you start adding people into your circles & explore - while I have nt had a chance to explore it to much, the leading authority on the ins & outs is Chris Brogan who has done quite a few blog postings on it

http://gplus.to/htrc is the the short link to mine if you would like to add me - if anyone also needs an invite, you can send me your email (supposedly supposed t be a gmail addy or one associated with one of their systems) through the messaging system here & I will send them out a little later today (when I get back in the office)

The Energize Bedford (NY) website just launched, backed by the DOE Better Buildings program: 120 homeowners have signed for Home Performance with Energy Star audits in the first 3 days.

James thanks for creating this group - I'm excited to see how everyone is using social media. With EnergyFlair.com we're tapping in to people's social networks to let them compete against friends to save the most energy at home. Part of our service also includes generating referrals for local service providers, so if anyone wants to learn more, just let me know!

I am impressed that Home Energy Pros has so many members in a short time (over 760 as I write this). How have you shared information about this group with others? I have passed it on to Touchstone Energy rural electric cooperative energy  advisors in my part of Iowa. Also going to send a message to our national listserv now.

Dianne just created a group here in Home Energy Pros about Twitter. You can leave your twitter address there and we'll merge it into a meta-feed of all Home Energy Pro members' individual feeds.

I think this type of discussion group/forum is essential for HP and Energy pros to stay in touch, network, and LEARN!
As far as customers, the web has always been an integral part of my advertising, but I am now with a new company so we will begin again anew...

http://forumhomeimprovement.com/ you could give this one a try, I personally am not a member though, so I cannot attest to the quality

Has anyone found any good sites where homeowners go to discuss their projects and such? A discussion forum for people interested in home improvement?
Comment by Silas Inman on November 3, 2010 at 10:09am
Sean, I agree with your note on Forums. Definitely true, perhaps in a league of their own. StumbleUpon is unique as well. It is a social bookmarking system. Users pick their likes and interests and hit the stumble button and it gives them a random website that Stumbleupon feel matches their interests. Adding a StumbleUpon option to your blogs, forums or other social media can help create connections.

Silas - sure, why not? Instead of you simply engaging someone by Tweeting something & getting a RT or reply / Posting something & getting a like - you are actively engaging others in another social arena just like we are doing now... Just my .02

Thanks also for the tip on Tumblr - I will have to check that out & StumbleUpon (?)
