I first would like to say thank you to all the people who participate in this great site.  I have been reading posts on here for awhile and learning a lot of good information.  I have been in and out of the building industry for the past 20 years, but have been heading toward the energy efficiency and sustainable building area for  the past ten.  I have my BPI certifications in air-leakage, analyst/envelope, and multifamily.  I am currently working on my LEED GA/AP and plan to get my RESNET/Energy Star Cert. by the end of June.

There is a local program where I work that is a partnership through the local utility and a non-profit that will be providing energy audits and low/no interest loans for energy efficiency improvements.  The problem I am running into is they are offering those wonderful "Fake" audits where they basically go in and tell every homeowner the same thing.  They are even making one of there major suggestions to upgrade windows.  I am also concerned that they are making air-sealing suggestions, but aren't doing any combustion testing or education relating to potential dangers.  I recently had my computer crash and didn't have a recent backup file of articles, studies, power point presentations, on energy efficiency upgrades that I had gathered for educational purposes.   I am looking for any info. of this sort that I could present to the employees and board members  running this program to help educate and convince them of where the money and time is better spent.  I was hoping some of you in this field might have this  info. available  and be willing to share.  I'm sure I can gather it again, but it would save me a lot of time.  If anyone is willing to share some information it can be sent to spaulsonjh (at) yahoo(dot)com or if you feel like sharing with everyone please post it here.

Thanks for any help and I look forward to being a part of this online community.

Green Building Advisor is an excellent resource. And, not to sound cynical, but may I suggest Carbonite? It has saved me from VHVBAC (Voluntary High Velocity  Bridge Abuttment Contact) at least twice.

Bruce,

Thanks for the info.  I read the updates on Green Building Advisor a couple times a week.  I know there is a lot of other good info out there that I had saved for this purpose.  I also wouldn't want to only reference one site.  Your not sounding cynical. I have been looking into carbonite and normally back up on an external hard drive, but had been slacking the past couple months when I put all this info. together.  I would also like to say if anyone else is interested in good articles for education purposes I would be happy to send them to people as soon as I can recover everything off my  old hard drive.  Thank again.

There is one website which should have all the answers to your questions.

The 'My Energy University' website offers around 80+ free online training courses on energy efficiency.

Your staff and board members could participate in the self paced online courses or you can extract the information yourself to build a presentation. There are many courses which focus on the economics of energy efficiency & energy audits too!

I hope this helps support your point that energy efficiency can have a quick ROI which reduces operational costs and increases your bottom line.

Good Luck!
