i have read in this group where someone suggested conditioned air in the attic.  This being done to make the cooling and heating equipment and duct more effective.  Please excuse me if that is NOT why you would condition the air in an attic.

Dont you have to pay for the energy used to condition those attics?  Maybe I am mistaken there too but that sounds like we are killing Cain to save Abel.  Kind of goes against my grain.

I have worked with a radiant control coating (RCC) for 30 years.   One of the first things I did was apply it to AC units and boilers in and on hospitals in association with the California Society of Healthcare Engineering.

With one single exception, we would NEVER recommend conditioning an attc.  We would go into the attic and coat the roof underdecking to keep the attic much cooler in the hot months and warmer in the cold months.

We dont stop there.  We also coat the AC unit, plenum and flex / metal ducts as well as the water heater if one is present.  By just coating the AC unit, plenum, ducts and water heater, this normally reduces the entire electric bill by 25% for a 1,200 to 1,400  sq ft home.  This is all done with only the addition of our Radiant Control Coating, no R- rated insulation needed here.

A one time expense that will keep the attic at a comfortable temperature all year lomg.

That is how you condition the attic with an RCC.

I have started a group here, 'THE RCC CLASSROOM' Stop by when you can, we have done ALOT with our RCC and AC units over the years.
