Well, here's a beauty.  Stink pipe removed and "sealed off" in the attic, but left uncapped and open to the elements.  Must've been a gallon of water in the pipe and dripping slowly through the sealed makeshift contraption in the attic.  As you can imagine, the insulation was wet, as well as the kitchen ceiling.  Unbelievable...

And to think the person who did this is permitted to use sharp tools...

Yikes. And that makes me wonder, what are they using for an actual functional plumbing vent stack (i.e. the other side of the cut-off pipe)? Maybe it's just venting into the attic!

Or worse: venting into a wall cavity or other enclosed space, accumulating toxic, possibly even explosive gas. At least the attic probably has some air movement.

Kind of reminds me of the scene in "Christmas Vacation" when Eddy empties the RV waste into the storm drain...! It would be funny if it wasn't actually potentially dangerous.
