Midori Haus, a Passive House retrofit in Santa Cruz California and a Thousand Home Challenge candidate, used 4,334 kWh during the first year of occupancy.  This is 80% reduction compared to the energy used by the previous owner of the house  (21,928 kWh).  This was achieved by using Passive House approach with solar thermal system.  (We did not use PV to offset electricity).  You can read more about it at the Midori Haus blog.

Our house will be open for tour after the Building Carbon Zero Monterey event on 3/26/2014.  For more info and tickets visit http://www.co2zeroca.org
