This morning Linda and I took turns addressing a small number of people at a four-hour session at ACI National that began at 8:00 am on Day One. I welcomed them to an edge of the field, acknowledging that folks committed to achieving deep reductions in home energy use, by whatever means, are nonconformists. They are not using energy automatically, but thoughtfully and/or carefully.
We were there to show results those folks have gotten and to unveil a method of fostering such nonconformity (Meaningful Makeovers). Not surprisingly, but strangely, interest was higher for the former than for the latter. There's ready appreciation for the remarkable that is history, and ready doubt about seeding and nurturing more. The need to sell profitable products and services seems to insist on delivery of one-or-a-few sizes-fit-all to faceless consumers. Forget the motivated and clever persons in homes, who might inspire their neighbors, associates and family members!
Our Powerpoints soon will be available on the event's pages.
I'm speaking for myself here.

Best,
