While cooking sugar into candy and not being able to locate the thermometer, you instead stand over the pot with your thermal imaging camera.

You might be an Energy Auditor if....

All the kids in your carpool know how to identify heat loss from attics because they've heard you say, one too many times, "wow, look at the snow melt pattern on that roof!"

My kids have a completely different view about  icicyles on homes than I did growing up. I don't want to ruin magic, but I hope to raise great building science nerds!

...if your wife wants to kill you or divorce you (more likely former) when you are looking at houses to buy, because you hate everything she loves in there.

You might be an Energy Auditor if....

Your child tells their day care teacher that you can help them save energy in their new home.

Or my favorite...

When your wife threatens you to put the IR camera away.

I get the later one alot, however my wife also uses the IR camera to threaten some of the architects & engineers that work for her.

you might be an energy auditor if you convince your wife to replace your conventional bulbs with the new energy efficient low watts bulbs...lolzzz but for me its very difficult .
You might be an energy professional if all you see when you watch T.V. and movies are the problems you see in the buildings and what you could do to resolve them.

You might be an energy auditor if:

After a lengthy, excited, one sides phone conversation you hear, "I gotta go", click..... and you're not offended.

If you remember chuckling that time you made a mental note to never carry your gas leak detector clipped to your belt with the audible alarm activated.....while performing a training class with ten students in the room (They wouldn't have figured it out if I had kept my mouth shut but it was too funny).
