Has anyone encountered a plenum only system with all flexible run outs and tried to get a velocity pressure when first run comes off within 18" of air handler? without testing individual runs at termination has anyone tried testing this close to air handler? is the number skewed? can you trust the test? Looking for insight.....running into this a lot lately with track homes and 6-8 foot  plenum only systems. Just wondering what everyone else is encountering and what your doing?

Hi Horace,

Hard to trust the number as the air is so turbulent in this plenum, that it will be nearly impossible to develop an average velocity.

If you have a central return you could possible use a TEC TrueFlow grid or do a traverse with a large (4" dia) rotating vane anemometer or use a flow hood.

I will be doing a free airflow webinar soon (with BPI CEUs); look for it on our events calendar:

Thanks, i will.
