Permalink Reply by Bob Blanchette on February 19, 2012 at 6:12am Smartgrids, Time of Use, and Variable Peak Pricing are coming to a utility near you soon. The people interested in REALLY saving money by adjusting their thermostat will get one that's radio controlled by the local utility and automatically adjusts based on the cost of energy. Sounds like science fiction? It's already happening in our city, we just had our RC stat installed. Adding icing on the cake our local utility is providing them for FREE including installation. Nest vs. Honeywell will cease to be an issue as more utilities go to RC stats.
