Hi All

I don't want to re-invent the wheel so I was wondering if someone had a link or PPT to a decent presentation on Home Energy Savings and what hte home owner can/should do.  My goal is to educate listeners but to also hopefully gently steer them to a Home Enrgy Audit.

Thanx all.

You could make a presentation quickly by copying & pasting from this taxpayer-funded booklet.

I simply googled "energy saving tips for homeowners"  There's more.

thank you much.

Here's a presentation I gave a while back -- feel free to copy slides from it:

https://docs.google.com/present/view?id=dgp4g6j2_1414nrjv4gx

It was a kind of unusual situation, though, I was being asked to speak on a topic that was of interest to me, so I focused on the less obvious aspects of home energy rather than on the ones people most need to know.  Hope you get some use from it.

Ben, I just went through your presentation and found it to be very well done.  Hats off!

Ben,

Nice job! Thanks for making your efforts available.

Good presentation but......

yes compressed fibreglass does loose a little R value but true "dense packed" fibreglass is much improved air barrier and does not settle.  I still prefer densepak cellulose but have seen fibreglass used effectively here in Maine.

no material like fire but cellulose with fire retardant is not "easily damaged by fire

True heat and AC systems should be sized and balanced to home BUT most are NOT.  yes closing off rooms may unbalance the system but the energy save should more than off set any inefficiencies.... in my opinion

Ben,

Such a great presentation. Thanks for sharing! Lucky audience!

Matthew,

Here is a presentation I developed last year for homeowners (housewives mostly) to help better inform the public. You can copy whatever slides you wish.  I have the references for those slides that are not noted, as well.

Matthew,

Here is a presentation I gave on Veterans Day for the Energy Upgrade California program in which a Home Performance Contractor does an energy assessment, puts the data into energy pro and comes up with cost/energy savings of the actions that contractor recommends. The home owner hopefully signs the contract and the retrofit project and energy savings +comfort + durability begins.

I'm giving this to you for the people of Ohio. I stole many of the images from this site so I can't really not share it.

The images of the California yellow spotted news needs to be resized. They represent a problem if found living in your crawlspace where a home's air comes from. They lived under our 1950s tract house until I relocated them to a friendlier home.

Good luck,

George Matthews

Thank you all, I have more than enough.  Thanks
Thanks to all. I finished my presentation by combining many and I think it came out awesome.  To all those on this thread, if you would like a copy let me know.  We'll have to figure out how to get it to you sicne I added many IR photos which fade in over the non IR...very cool.  So file size is big.  Maybe dropbox it!!
