Welcome to all HEP members that are working on or are interested in the energy efficiency issues in multifamily residential. We've created a Multifamily Buildings Group to help us all connect and discuss the often neglected energy issues in this type of residential housing.

I am also doing a Short Course at Affordable on weatherizing apartment buildings. We are doing a LOT of common area work in our program, and I'll report on that.
What we are doing in common areas is mostly lighting and supply air. The hallway pressurization supply air is a BIG deal; since it can be a huge cold-climate energy load, we sometimes find it disabled so the owner could save on utility bills. If the building is leaky enough, it doesn't matter a whole lot that it's been shut off. But we are doing two buildings with significant moisture concerns. In one building, pretty much my only objective was to get the ventilation started back up while keeping the utility bills stable.
