A quick poll to see how widespread smart meter technology has become.

What type of power meter do you have, and how does your utility use the technology?

a: Analog dial meter

b: Digital, but not a "smartmeter".

c: Smartmeter, no advanced features enabled.

d: Smartmeter, remote reading for billing

e: Smartmeter, remote reading for utility and consumer (consumer can log in to website and see daily use)

f: Smartmeter, Time of use/variable/demand rates available, but not forced.

g: Smartmeter, Time of use/variable/demand rates ONLY, no flat rate option.

Our utility is "f", variable rates available, but not forced. We can also read our meter online.

PECO/Exelon Philadelphia region: analog dial meter with remote reading sensor.

D apparently moving to E by year end

No smart meter yet, Pacific Power, Oregon. The wheel is still going around and around.

PG&E Smartmeter, remote reading for utility and consumer (consumer can log in to website and see daily use). I'm pretty certain TOU/demand/variable rates are available for residential customers, but you can check their rate programs by going to their website pge.com

B with about 5% of my clients in the greater Albuquerque/Santa Fe areas. The remaining are A. PNM is the utility. Most residences are fixed rates but commercial properties tend to fluctuate between three rate plans depending on their demand and total kWh usage.
