Just saw this great blog post from EnergyCircle explaining the new Home Performance XML from BPI.

Has anyone here been to visit the HPXML site? What did you think?

And for those who missed the announcement back in October, click here.

I agree, that was a great post on what it is & isn't

The catch is going to be the software developers & how much time & effort all the companies with their current systems are going to invest into this. The other catch from reviewing the schema (mind you I am not a programer) is the lack for multiple foundations, R Values, etc... which might need some further tweeking before everyone comes up with their own idea's (foundation_w foundationw foundation1 or a or _1 or _a)
Great feedback, Sean. I'm not a programmer either (very far from it!), so I found the article very helpful. I know BPI is working to make it an ANSI standard, so that might prompt the software developers, many of whom provided input into the HPXML's development.

I can't speak to the particulars of the schema, but I bet your point is the kind of feedback the team needs to make this really work well for contractors. If you feel so inclined, hpxml@psdconsulting.com is the email for submitting ideas and asking questions.
