The task make a home more energy efficient; You could do a comphrehensive test in, fix the problems /

do test out with expected results paring use of kWh and Btu consumption. That is the quick take on the

current state of the energy auditing biz. Expect costs of over $300 for the intel & spend the money for

caulk, weatherstripping etc and you should get some positive results.

Here is another option , call it semantics but we do Energy loss analysis not audits .

The premise is there are multiple ways of getting home owners to do  better regarding energy consumption- Walking in to a home & inquiring how much of a reduction cut is desired is another way to go.

Asking do you want to save 10% or 20% or 30% then making the solutions known is another good approach,      and some of those various

solutions are; switching to Led lighting(SSL) its good for a 15% kWh consumption reduction -usually more

What about behavioural changes( ie- unplugging everything except when being used) account for 10% easily,

Energy use intel should be affordable and "in homeowners faces daily" like a dashboard. Want to be VERY effective regarding household efficiencies? Its more likely to happen if the house is airsealed , & insulated& systems are working effienciently.                 We use many tools and  resources,

I/r imaging ,light meters, energy use monitors, we go thru utilty bills- we skip the blower door - But the

homeowner gets solutions & an energy efficient gift( Led light) for under $100. So maybe an energy loss

analysis would be better than an energy audit for the average homeowner!

The point I am trying to make  is that there are multiple ways to get the results we all seem to be interested in getting! A test for a home owners, their would be energy loss coach or auditor , can they

walk the walk - have them show their own utility bills . If an energy auditor or analyst can't show

low usage I would question and Doubt their purported acumen , talent and success ratio!!

At Pure Energy, our auditing business model is this: The goal of a successful energy audit is to understand how a particular household uses energy, identify the possibilities for reducing that use, and talk with the family to discover the best outcomes. People use energy - not houses.
