Hi Gary,

I work around Efficiency Maine but never with them so limited knowledge.  But I'm curious what your interest is.  I do have a contact who does auditing and contracting and I assume he has done work in compliance with EM.

The people I deal with are not interested in trying to qualify for whatever program EM is offering as in many cases they can get the work done better for less.  I'm sure they would argue that, but one of the big catches in the past was no DIY, which in Maine excluded many homes.

Bud,

I know some guys at Hancock software who has developed the HEAT auditing tool. They reached out to me looking for a contractor working in the EM program. I knew you weren't doing it or I would have passed along your information. I would think there is probably a website for EM which has the participating contractors, although I have never looked.

Yes, there is a list of participating contractors, they call them energy advisors, but it includes everything related to energy. http://www.efficiencymaine.com/at-home/registered-vendor-locator

Just plug in the desired zip, Bangor = 04401 and go at least 25 mile radius.

As for software, last I knew Maine had developed their own which was only available for their own program.  Those using REM or TREAT were able to continue, but how they uploaded to the Maine software I do not know.  I don't know what their annual costs are for the system they are using, but as I remember, it was developed by another company and is maintained by them, so not like the state owns it in house.

With the current economy and political winds it is hard to see huge incentive dollars flowing into auditing.  I'm currently trying to determine the effects of BPI's increased certification costs as Maine had adopted them.  That would include all of their WAP auditors and at the new prices, that's a big cost.  Since no one is returning calls, I'm assuming it is work in progress.
