Smartgrids/consumers and utilities will need to work ttogether to reduce PEAK power use in summer months. The only thermostats that will be practical are ones that can be smartgrid controlled to adjust to a varying energy cost. The days of electricity costing the same price no matter when it's used are coming to an end. Who sells/promotes the changes and benefits remains to be seen. I'm all for raising public awareness of energy costs.
