Event Description

Continuing Education for BPI Energy Auditors, HERS Raters, Builders, Architects and Building Code Inspectors:

CEs available! BPI-3, ALA-3, RESNET-3

This course will supplement your current knowledge of building envelope design as it relates to water and moisture  management. We will cover all aspects of exterior water management and water intrusion caused by:

 Gravity or air pressure differences
 Liquid water moving by capillary action through porous building materials
 Water transported via air movement
 Water vapor transfuses through building assemblies

For each of the topics listed above, we will review the underlying root cause and what can be done to prevent related problems in both existing and new homes.
In addition we will discuss the design of envelope (from both a thermal and air barrier perspective), to address interior moisture concerns caused by condensation via dew points. We will calculate dew points and develope strategies to help eliminate condensation in window and wall assemblies.

Cost: $60
