Event Description

Doing the Numbers: Improving Energy Efficiency Cost-Effectiveness Testing
Thursday, May 15, 2014 from 9:30-11 a.m. PDT / 12:30-2 p.m. EDT
Approved for up to 1.5 BPI CEUs

As a home performance contractor, the work you do every day is about delivering great value and benefits – you increase customers’ comfort, keep them healthy and save them money, all while reducing energy consumption.

But, when it comes to measuring the success of the energy efficiency programs you participate in, many of the tests used to determine whether the home performance work you do is cost effective just aren’t cutting it. Depending on how you look at it, the tests either count too many kinds of costs or don’t count enough benefits -- or both. Getting these tests right is important -- because they help determine how dollars are spent for home performance programs and projects.

In this session we'll dive further into cost-effectiveness and how the current method of testing provides a distorted view of home performance costs and benefits. Tune in to learn about a new framework for cost-effectiveness screening called the Resource Value Framework (RVF), and how home performance stakeholders can help advance the RVF to offer a solution to the lack of symmetry in current cost-effectiveness tests.
