TSFEE BPI ADVANCED BUILDING ANALYST PROFESSIONAL CERTIFICATION TRAINING

Note: BPI 's BA certification has been upgraded to Advanced BA

Length: 5 days Classroom.

Test date is typically the following Monday. Testing is scheduled during class. 1-2, 2 hour visits may be required to complete all testing

Special Notice: The “Advanced BA” has now taken the place of the previous BPI Building Analyst certification All new candidates will be certified Advanced BA.

 

Description: This class is the “entry level” for the Home Performance Contracting industry and concludes with a certification through the Building Performance Institute. It teaches participants the basic theory and practices necessary to work in various energy saving programs running in the North East. The new “Advanced BA” testable items are part of this class. Students must successfully pass an online written exam through the Building Performance Institute and pass a proctored field exam in order to receive BPI certification as a Advanced Building Analyst.  

Prerequisite: This introduction course is open to all students who have an interest and desire to learn how to perform energy audits and provide recommendations to the homeowner on improvements to improve the home’s energy performance.

Upon completion of this course, the student will have a working understanding of:

  • Advanced BA Principles of Energy and Building Science

  • The Energy Audit Process

  • Building Shell and Thermal Envelope

  • Airflow Basics

  • Moisture Management

  • Air Quality

  • Combustion Safety and CO Monitoring

  • Building Systems: HVAC, Lighting, Appliances, and DHW

  • Diagnosing Common Building Problems

  • Blower Door Testing

  • Combustion Testing and Safety

  • Energy Modeling
