SUMMARY:The Snell Group - Level I - Infrared for Building Applications
DESCRIPTION:Continuing Education Credits/Units Available for This Cou
rse.\n \nThis 32 hour class is designed for energy auditors, weatheri
zation contractors, home inspectors and facility maintenance personnel
who use thermal imaging or are considering adding the technology to t
heir program. The class will meet the needs of a thermographer lookin
g to inspect residential and small commercial facilities for insulatio
n defects, air leakage problems and moisture related issues including
roof systems.  \nParticipants will also learn how to apply IR to insp
ect electrical systems in both residential and small commercial buildi
ngs as well as scan mechanical equipment including motors, bearings, p
umps, pipes, and HVAC systems.\n\nThere are several hands-on simulatio
ns and exercises built into the course. While owning an infrared camer
a is not required for attendance, participants are encouraged to bring
their cameras to class. Completion of this course prepares students t
o successfully apply infrared technology to residential energy audits.
\n\nLevel I - Infrared for Building Applicationsis designed to meet th
e proposed BPI and RESNET standards for infrared.  This class also sa
tisfies the Level I infrared educational requirements established by
the American Society of Non-Destructive Testing (ASNT) and in Canada
is designed to meet the new National Master Specifications (NMS) Secti
 on 02 27 13, Thermographic Assessment; Building Envelope.\n \nOvervie
w of course topics and applications:    \n\nInfrared camera basics\
 nHands-on practice\nHeat transfer theory\nRadiometric theory\nMoisture
  thermodynamics\nPrinciples of building inspections\nConduction inspec
 tions\nAir leakage inspections\nBlower Doors\nBuilding moisture inspec
 tions\nRoof moisture inspections\nFacility electrical and mechanical s
 ystems\nBuilding standards\nReport and Analysis software  \n\nAttend
