Event Description

EGIA Leadership Academy Web Exchange

Learn what California is doing to enforce contractor compliance with state and federal consumer protection regulations. Go to any home show, open a newspaper, or tune into late-night TV, and you'll hear home improvement sales people claim: "Install my product and cut your energy bills in half!" When selling energy-efficient products, it is natural for sales people from home improvement businesses to want to offer the consumer estimates on the amount of energy savings they will experience. Unfortunately, providing unsubstantiated energy saving estimates can get home improvement businesses into legal trouble. Attorneys General in many states have been investigating contractors for overstating energy savings during the sales process and selling solutions that don't qualify for the promised utility or government sponsored incentives.
