Event Description

Take your career to the next level. Be among the first in the industry to earn the new Home Energy Professional certifications by taking BPI's pilot exams this summer. The National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) will host four FREE orientation webinars through July to provide an overview of subject matter covered in each exam, as outlined in the certification scheme handbooks. Topics covered in the webinars include

  • Scope of each certification scheme
  • Format for written and field exams
  • Job Task Analysis for each certification
  • Exam blueprints
  • Application process and prerequisite criteria
  • Exam schedules
  • Exam fees
  • How to contact a BPI Test Center to schedule your exam

Get all of your questions answered and learn more about the advantages of either taking the certification exam yourself, or having your employees certified. Candidates who take these exams, and meet passing requirements, will be amongst the first group of professionals to earn these advanced certifications

Register now:
Energy auditor exam orientation - Thursday, June 28 at 12 noon
Retrofit installer technician exam orientation - Monday, July 2nd, 2 pm
QC inspector exam orientation - Friday, July 13th, 1 pm
Crew leader exam orientation - Monday, July 16th, 2 pm

Designed for experienced home performance professionals, the four new certifications focus on the most common jobs in the home energy upgrade industry: energy auditor, retrofit installer, crew leader and quality control inspector. The new certifications are funded by the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE), developed by the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) and offered by BPI.

The new certifications will not replace BPI's existing certifications. Rather, they will complement and build upon BPI's existing credentials in the home performance career ladder, where increased knowledge and skills lead to advancement.

Featured Presenter: Mathew Anderson, Manager of Certification Development:
Mathew Anderson joined BPI in 2001, and is responsible for the development and maintenance of its national certification program. Matt and his team manage and provide support for certification committee members as well as develop policies, procedures, and processes for compliance with ISO/ANSI 17024. He has a background in residential, commercial, and industrial construction and has performed analysis on numerous residential projects.
