Event Description

BPI Certification By Green Education Services

The BPI Building Analyst Certification workshop is the most convenient way to get certified by BPI and start offering home energy audits! Aligned with the Building Performance Institute's (BPI) Building Analyst Professional standards for energy auditing, this workshop provides a fundamental understanding of the whole-house approach to analyzing efficient and proper energy consumption, in addition to checking for health hazards, proper ventilation, understanding HVAC equipment operations and maintenance, and how to interact with clients when providing home energy audits. This is a 40-hour training program is delivered over the course of 5 days (3 days in classroom, 2 days on-site). Both the written and field exams for BPI certification are administered as part of the workshop.

There are 3 simple steps to starting your career as a certified BPI Building Analyst:

  1. Sign up for Green Education Services' BPI-approved training course
  2. Attend a 5-day BPI certification training workshop in your preferred location
  3. Pass the written and field exams administered in class and you are good to go with your BPI certification!

Prerequisites: There are no prerequisites to attend the training sessions or sit for the exams.

Skills Required: High school math and reading skills are necessary to comprehend the scope of the presentation material, but no prior construction experience is required.

What is BPI? The Building Performance Institute (BPI) was founded in 1993 and is the most widely recognized association that certifies energy auditors on a national scale. Focusing on the house as a system approach, BPI emphasizes the interdependence of building systems as they relate to energy consumption. Endorsed by the DOE, certification is required for participation in many state and national contractor incentive programs.
