Event Description

The leading passive building conclave in North America, each year the conference draws hundreds of architects, policy makers, developers, builders, engineers, building scientists and energy consultants from around the world. Dozens of high-performance building component manufacturers will also display their cutting-edge products at the conference trade show.

William Rose will deliver the opening keynote. A super insulation and energy efficiency pioneer, Rose is Senior Research Architect at the Illinois Sustainable Technology Center at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. He is a protégé of Seichi Konzo, the principal author of double-wall superinsulation—first introduced in 1976 in the Illinois Lo-Cal House. Superinsulation eventually became one of the foundations of what today is known as passive house.

Joe Lstiburek of Building Science Corporation will present a full-pre conference building science primer. Achilles Karagiozis of Owens Corning will deliver the closing planary.

Breakout sessions will zoom in on passive building as the best path to Net-Zero, building resiliency, the growing multifamily market, and new cost-effective climate-specific passive building standards.

The PHIUS 9th Annual North American Passive House Conference is presented in partnership with Passive House Alliance US (PHAUS) and Passive Buildings Canada.
